"I built this to help people make better buying decisions without the fake reviews and sponsored rankings."
— Ryan Monson, FounderThe Story
I spent years doing the same thing every time I needed to buy something: opening 12 browser tabs, cross-referencing Amazon reviews with Reddit threads, skimming YouTube videos, and ignoring review sites that I knew were ranking products based on who paid the most affiliate commission. It took hours. And I was doing it for everything — drills, blenders, headphones, dog food.
In late 2025, I started experimenting with using AI to systematize that research process. What began as a side experiment turned into something I couldn't stop building. In 47 days, working nights and weekends alongside an AI collaborator, I went from zero to 6,400+ comparison pages covering 17 product categories.
The site you're reading isn't a media company. There's no team of staff writers, no editor-in-chief, no PR department. It's one person with a clear goal — and a lot of AI horsepower to execute it.
About Me
I'm a solo founder with a background in technology and data systems. I've spent most of my career building things that aggregate and surface data in useful ways — MyAwesomeBuy is an extension of that, applied to consumer product research.
I personally oversee product methodology, affiliate relationships, and the AI pipelines that generate and maintain the comparison data. When something's wrong on the site — a bad ASIN, an outdated price, a misleading comparison — I'm the one who fixes it.
I also built Talk to Jesus, an AI-powered spiritual conversation project. Different mission, same approach: use technology to build something genuinely useful for people.
How We're Different
Most review sites rank products based on one reviewer's experience with one unit over a few weeks. That's valuable, but it misses what 10,000 verified buyers learned over months of real use. MyAwesomeBuy aggregates purchasing data at scale — reviews, ratings, reported failure modes, price history — and structures it into comparisons that reflect how products perform across a wide range of users and use cases.
We also tell you when we don't know. If a product is new and there isn't enough real-world data, we say so. If the top-rated product has a well-documented flaw that affects a specific use case, we include it — even if it's the site's top affiliate earner.
No Sponsored Rankings
Rankings reflect data, not who paid to be ranked higher. Affiliate relationships are disclosed clearly on every page.
Real Products Only
Every ASIN is verified. Every product is real. We've built systems specifically to catch AI-fabricated product data before it reaches the site.
Price Tier Coverage
Every comparison covers budget, mid-range, and premium picks — because not everyone's shopping at the same price point.
Regularly Updated
Products change, prices change, new models launch. Comparisons are refreshed as data changes, not left to go stale.
How It Was Built
Database first
Built a PostgreSQL product database with verified ASINs, pricing, ratings, and category structure before writing a single page.
AI-powered content generation
Used Claude (Anthropic's AI) as a collaborator to generate buying guides, comparison analysis, and FAQ content — with strict guardrails against fabrication.
Quality gates at every step
ASIN verification, product de-duplication, dead-link checks, and content quality reviews run automatically before any page publishes.
Static site, built to last
The entire site compiles to static HTML from the database — fast, reliable, no runtime dependencies, and fully cacheable at the edge.
