Quick Answer
Samsung 32" Odyssey G5 Gaming Monitor, WQHD (2560x1440)

Samsung and Dell are selling you different trade-offs at the same money. Samsung's Odyssey G5 ($254.99) gives you 32 inches of 1440p at 144Hz - refresh rate first. Dell's S3221QS ($329.99) gives you 32 inches of 4K at 60Hz - pixels first. Pick refresh for games, resolution for text and photos.

Samsung vs Dell Monitors Buying Guide

Samsung vs Dell Monitors 2026: Gaming, Everyday and Docking Picks

All four screens here cost between $259 and $300, so price is not the variable. What separates them is what each brand chose to spend the panel budget on.

The actual split: refresh rate versus resolution

Both Samsung picks are 2560x1440 running at 144Hz and 165Hz. Both Dell picks are 3840x2160 running at 60Hz and 120Hz. That is the whole comparison. At a fixed price a panel can be fast or it can be dense, and these two brands made opposite calls. If you play competitive shooters, the Samsungs are the right side of that trade. If you read text all day, edit photographs, or want two documents legible side by side, the Dells are.

Screen size and how far back you sit

A 32-inch 1440p screen has noticeably lower pixel density than a 27-inch one at the same resolution, so it wants to sit further back to look equally sharp. The Samsung Odyssey G5 is the 32-inch option and the G55A is the 27-inch one, at nearly the same money - measure your desk depth before assuming bigger is better. The same applies in reverse on the Dell side: 4K at 27 inches is very dense, and Windows scaling at 150% is usually necessary to keep text comfortable.

Curved or flat

Three of these four are curved. A curve helps at 32 inches and above, where the edges of a flat panel start to sit at a noticeably different distance from your eyes than the centre. At 27 inches the benefit is small and largely a matter of taste. It is not a spec worth paying extra for on its own.

What the USB-C model is actually for

The Dell S2725QC carries USB-C with power delivery, which means one cable to a laptop for video, data and charging. If you dock a laptop at your desk daily that is worth more than any panel spec on this page, because it removes two cables and a dongle from your routine. If you use a desktop tower, it is worth nothing.

What the ratings hide

These four do not carry equal evidence and the star figures should not be read as if they do. The Samsung Odyssey G5 has around 4,480 customer ratings behind it and the Dell S3221QS about 2,046; the Dell S2725QC has 816 and the Samsung G55A around 1,860. A four-star average on 800 ratings is a much softer number than the same average on 4,500. Ratings on this page are Amazon customer data, not our own testing.

Which of the four

Games first, and the largest screen: Samsung Odyssey G5, 32 inches of 1440p at 144Hz. Games first on a smaller desk, with the highest refresh here: Samsung Odyssey G55A at 165Hz. Text, photos and detail on a large screen: Dell S3221QS, 32 inches of 4K. Docking a laptop with one cable: Dell S2725QC, which adds USB-C power delivery and 120Hz.

The Samsung Odyssey G5 is the biggest high-refresh screen on this page: 32 inches of 2560x1440 running at 144Hz. That combination is the reason to buy Samsung rather than Dell at this price - you are choosing motion clarity over pixel count, and in fast games the difference between 144Hz and 60Hz is immediately obvious in a way that resolution is not. It carries roughly 4,480 customer ratings, more than any other pick here, which makes its average the most reliable number on the page. The trade-off is density. 1440p spread over 32 inches is less sharp than the same resolution at 27 inches, and much less sharp than the 4K Dells. For a desk where you sit close and read text all day, that is the wrong end of the compromise - look at the Dell S3221QS instead. For a screen you sit back from and play on, this is the pick.

The Odyssey G55A is the fastest screen here at 165Hz, with a 1ms response and FreeSync for tear-free frames. At 27 inches it puts the same 2560x1440 resolution into a smaller area than its 32-inch sibling, which means noticeably crisper text and a screen that works on a shallower desk. For competitive play this is the panel on this page to want: the extra 21Hz over the G5 is marginal on its own, but combined with the higher density and the smaller sweep of the eye across a 27-inch screen it is the more focused gaming monitor of the two Samsungs. The caveats are stock and evidence. Its listing currently shows limited stock, and it carries around 1,860 customer ratings against the G5's 4,480, so there is less feedback behind its score. If you want 4K rather than refresh rate, both Dells on this page beat it on pixels and lose to it on speed.

The Dell S3221QS is the clearest expression of Dell's side of this comparison: 3840x2160 across 32 curved inches, with 99% sRGB and 90% DCI-P3 colour coverage. Four times the pixels of the Samsung panels at almost the same price, and the density shows immediately in text, spreadsheets and photographs. The curve earns its place at this size - on a flat 32-inch panel the edges sit measurably further from your eyes than the centre - and the ultra-thin bezel makes a dual-screen setup less interrupted. The cost is speed. It runs at 60Hz with a 4ms response, so anything that depends on motion clarity will look worse on this than on either Samsung here, and no colour coverage figure compensates for that in a shooter. Buy it if the screen is for work and the games are occasional; buy a Samsung if that is the wrong way round.

The Dell S2725QC is the only screen on this page that changes your desk rather than just what is on it. Its USB-C connection carries video, data and power down a single cable, so a laptop docks and charges with one plug instead of a hub, a charger and a video lead. It is also the most balanced panel here on paper: 3840x2160 at 120Hz splits the difference between Samsung's refresh-first approach and the 60Hz of the other Dell, with FreeSync Premium and 99% sRGB coverage. Integrated speakers are adequate for calls and unremarkable for anything else. Two honest caveats. 4K at 27 inches is very dense and you will almost certainly want display scaling at 150%, which is fine on current Windows and macOS but worth knowing. And it carries 816 customer ratings, the fewest of the four picks here, so its average rests on a thinner base than the Samsungs. If you never dock a laptop, the USB-C is worth nothing to you and the S3221QS gives you a bigger screen for the same money.

Frequently Asked Questions

Samsung or Dell for gaming?
Samsung, on this page. Both Samsung picks run 2560x1440 at 144Hz and 165Hz, while both Dell picks are 4K at 60Hz and 120Hz. In fast games the refresh rate is the spec you feel; the extra pixels are the one you don't. If your games are occasional and your work is text, that reverses.
Samsung or Dell for working from home?
Dell, on this page. 4K at 27 or 32 inches renders text far more cleanly than 1440p and lets you put two documents side by side legibly. The Dell S2725QC also carries USB-C power delivery, so a laptop docks with a single cable - which changes a desk more than any panel specification here.
What does 27-inch versus 32-inch mean at the same resolution?
The same pixels spread over more area. 1440p works out around 109 pixels per inch at 27 inches and about 92 at 32 inches, so the 27-inch looks sharper at a normal desk distance while the 32-inch feels more immersive and wants you to sit further back. Measure your desk depth before assuming bigger is better.
Is 4K at 60Hz a problem?
Only for games. For reading, writing, spreadsheets and photo work, 60Hz is what desktops ran at for decades and you will not notice it. Drag a window quickly and you will. The Dell S3221QS is 60Hz; the Dell S2725QC is 120Hz and is the better choice if you want 4K and some motion clarity.
Do I need a curved monitor?
It helps at 32 inches and above, where the edges of a flat panel sit noticeably further from your eyes than the centre. At 27 inches the benefit is small and mostly preference. It is not worth paying a premium for on its own.
Are these prices and stock levels reliable?
They are read from the retailer listing and shown with the date they were last checked. Several of these ship from third-party marketplace sellers, where price and availability can change within days, and stock can go from plentiful to none without warning. Confirm on the retailer page before ordering.

How We Analyze Products

We analyze Amazon review data — often thousands of reviews per product — to surface patterns that individual buyers miss. Our process aggregates star ratings, review counts, and buyer sentiment at scale, identifying which strengths and weaknesses appear consistently across the largest review samples available. The 9,205+ reviews analyzed on this page represent real verified-purchase feedback from Amazon buyers.

Each product earned its placement through data: total review volume, average rating, and the specific praise and complaints that repeat most often across buyers. No manufacturer paid for placement on this page. Products appear here because buyers endorsed them at scale, not because a company asked us to feature them.

We use AI to summarize review sentiment — not to fabricate opinions, but to condense what thousands of buyers actually wrote into a readable format. The pros and cons you see reflect the most common themes found in verified purchaser reviews, paraphrased for clarity. We do not claim to have accessed Reddit, YouTube, or specific publications in generating these summaries.

Prices shown reflect Amazon pricing at the time this page was last generated. Click “See Today’s Price” to get the current live price on Amazon. Read our full methodology →

How We Score These Products

Dimension scores on this page come from published measurements by named independent reviewers, matched to the exact model listed — not to a similar product from the same range. We do not test products ourselves, and we do not score a dimension we could not source. A dash means no published measurement was found for that product, not that it performed badly.

Value: Price-to-performance ratio. Products with high ratings and low prices score highest.

Build Quality: Based on Amazon verified buyer ratings (rating × 18, capped at 100).

Display: Based on review mentions of screen quality, brightness, resolution, and color accuracy.

Response Time: Based on verified buyer review sentiment analysis.

Color Accuracy: Based on verified buyer review sentiment analysis.

Workspace: Based on verified buyer review sentiment analysis.

Pixel Density: Based on verified buyer review sentiment analysis.

The overall score is the mean of the dimensions we could evidence for that product, on a 10-point scale. Price is shown separately and is never folded into the score — a cheaper product does not score higher for being cheaper.

Amazon listings for the four products on this page, read 2026-08-24: price, customer rating, rating count, buy-box seller and stock state. No third-party expert reviews are cited because none are on record for these products.
